Supporting Leaders for a Healthy Montana
Access to healthcare has never been more important. We Are Montana supports local leaders in their work to strengthen access to healthcare and improve health care outcomes for every Montanan.
The lack of accessible and affordable care across Montana’s rural communities is an urgent problem that places Montanans at real risk. We Are Montana, led by public health expert Cora Neumann, is founded on the premise that the most effective policies are shaped by the people who know their communities best: local leaders.
Our Commitment
We Are Montana collaborates with rural, Native and health leaders to increase access to healthcare, and develop and promote best policies and practices for increasing access to quality, affordable and locally appropriate care to all Montanans. Programs: collaborate with health authorities to create written and online resources for community leaders; convene regular meetings featuring unique policy, public health and health leaders from across Montana and the country; and strengthen health networks among rural and Native communities.
Supporting Rising Leaders
We Are Montana collaborates with partners across the state to recruit rising leaders into the health leadership pipeline, and produce a ‘We Are Montana’ series of leader profiles to highlight and promote community leaders who prioritize accessible and affordable health care.
Building a Healthy Montana
Montanans know that our health is intertwined with the health of our lands and waterways. At We Are Montana, public health encompasses land and water use issues, such as: supporting regenerative and indigenous agricultural practices to support healthy, accessible food systems; increasing access to nutritious food for families; promoting practices that ensure clean land, water and air; and increasing mental health and addiction services and support.

We Are Montana is a non-profit project. We collaborate with and support essential organizations across Montana like Western Native Voice, Big Sky 55+, Montana Public Health Association, Mountain Pacific Quality Health, Plenty Doors, Biiluuke Strong, Messengers for Health, Blackfeet Community Wellness, COVID Local, Forward Montana, and more.
